Colin Munroe - The Unsung Hero

Colin Munroe, a Canadian singer/songwriter, erupted into the music scene producing tracks, remixing songs, and producing his very own mixtape, "Colin Munroe is The Unsung Hero." We came across his web-page and didn't know what to expect, until we heard "I Want Those Flashing Lights," a remix / response to a song by Kanye West, called "Flashing Lights." To no avail, Colin's song lit up the internet with buzz. His high-pitched voice, matched with his rhythm and simple lyrics offered listeners an enjoyable change of pace from the hip-hop scene. Check out the music video for Colin Munroe's "I Want Those Flashing Lights" below,

Colin Munroe took the buzz surrounding his video and ran with it, producing a 14 track original mixtape titled, "Colin Munroe is The Unsung Hero." Showing his dedication to fans, and further developing on his exposure, Colin Munroe pushed for his mixtape to be available online. The mixtape can be downloaded (here) for free. Colin's music has hints and characteristics of classic artists such as Van Morrison and even The Beatles. He easily manipulates piano chords, while using simple guitars riffs to create catchy melodies. The crossover of sounds between classic to pop and blended with hip-hop adds for a unique flavor. Crossing genres in such a way, has allowed this young artist to create a new sound, while maintaining his catchy hook's and keeping listeners coming back for more. It's artists like this that are really stepping out of the box to create new, unique music for the industry today. If your looking for something new, find it here, with Colin Munroe.

Looking forward to see what Colin Munroe can do next? He is planning for a studio album release slated for late 2009, titled, "Don’t Think Less of Me." ... Can't wait? Head over to iTunes to preview and download his first single, "Will I Stay." Keep your iTunes windows open, and your eyes pealed in-stores for this release. It'll be one worth grabbin'. Enjoy!
